Gypset Travel ~ Petit Hotel Hafa

When I discovered the Petit Hotel Hafa, a bohemian boutique hotel in Sayulita, it was obvious that it is ideal for gypsetters! Just a few short blocks from the beach, this hotel is surrounded by shops, cafés, and restaurants. Interestingly, the hotel was actually founded by a family of gypsetters (couple Christophe and Marina Mignot), who spent years traveling on their sailboat before settling down and starting their hotel in Salyulita. The hotel has garnered fantastic reviews, and it has been featured in Travel, Travel & Leisure, Elle, Glamour, Modern Bride and Escale magazines.

One thing you will notice as soon as you arrive at the Petit Hotel Hafa is the Corazóz de Hafa or “Hafa Heart” that you sill see on doors, wooden walkways, and just about anywhere as you walk around the hotel. You will enjoy the beautiful rooftop terrace, where you can have a cocktail while listening to music playing in the town square. The hotel is located right near the heart of Salyulita, so it’s a quick walk to shopping, food, and nightlife.

Each room of the hotel’s six rooms is different, featuring decorations and handmade crafts by local artists. The “boutique” feel of this hotel is carried throughout. You will enjoy fine linens and bathrooms with copper sinks and very cool showers. The gypset style room decor features bright colors and Moorish accents.

In addition to running their hip boutique hotel, the owners also operate a boho chic store at the hotel called Boutique Hafa (more to come on this in a upcoming post)– a fantastic shop that sells art and unique jewelry pieces. Many of the jewelry pieces are designed by shop owner Marina Garcia and feature leather and pearls.

Rooms at the Petit Hotel Hafa are very reasonable– around $70/night with a two-night minimum). For more information on booking and reservations, click HERE.
